Donnie Darko Bento

You have only 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds to eat this bento!

I think this week’s theme could be aliens / sci-fi / paranormal. We had a piece of salmon steak left over from our evening meal so I made it into this Donnie Darko “Frank the bunny”. It kind of fits in with Spring theme too, because it’s a bunny LOL. Ok so it’s not the kawaii cute that we know and love, but I remember when that film came out, everyone was talking about what an awesome and cool film it was, and some people were even getting the tattoo of 28:06:42:12 on their inner fore-arm! Crazy!

It’s- just plain white rice, a salmon steak (coated in curry powder, white flour and salt and fried up) with nori facial features and brocolli and omelette spirals.

From Wikipedia “Donnie Darko is a 2001 American science fiction film written and directed by Richard Kelly.”Β  Full Wikipedia Donnie Darko article here.

The image I used to make the bento is from this simplified tattoo version

EDIT: This has been entered intoΒ  Hapa bento’s B.O.M.B for April

  1. I am not a sci-fi fan neither is my boy. My boy is afraid of monsters so I try not to made anything with monsters in his bento…. except those folks from Monster Inc!

  2. Hi Lia, thanks! πŸ˜€ Yes I cut them free hand while I was waiting for the rice to cool down! I know they are a bit scrappy, but I don’t mind πŸ˜€ (Though if i had a numbers nori punch, that would have come in handy LOL ) πŸ˜€

  3. weird – this one or the Alien hatchling one? it would be awful if comments were going missing. I appreciate every single one, and am so grateful for people’s feedback

  4. Hiya Angeleyes! I found the missing comment! It was in my spam folder! I have got it out and approved it! Sorry about that – It’s weird that the first message went in spam automatically and your other one came through ok… Will have to keep my eye on it. :o)

  5. hahahaa…. yeah… I saw that it appeared!
The Askimet can be a little forgetful sometimes… it happened all the time in another blog of mine always sending one of my friend’s comments into the spam box no matter how many times I approved her comments. And the weird part is, the real spammers got through! >.<
